Have used lower end Plantronics and the original Jawbone and Jawbone 2 and smaller nokia bluetooths and the stereo Motorola SD's. This is the single best bluetooth handset I've used. The fit is secure with OR WITHOUT the earloop! I've NEVER had that happen before, and it's because of the part that extends into the ear canal to press against the temporal bone. The sound, the clarity AND the easy pairing and vocal commands in conjunction with my Samsung Gleam phone . . . unbelievable. ALSO, with this earpiece I can listen to music/audiobooks from my cellphone, something I've yet to see in any other earpiece. Now the bad news: The place I got 'bulk packaging' from included one ear hook and one earloop. Original packaging has 2 earhooks, 3 different size earloops AND two of what they call earhooks for another fitting option. I don't know what this Amazon seller does, but the other seller of bulk packaged HZ800's online does not mention this. Caveat emptor.

By philsixereagleflyer
I never write reviews, but I've never had such a negative reaction to a product on Amazon. Note that I have primarily used blueAnt and Jawbone devices in the past. This is my first foray into Motorola. I also want to address some of the iPhone connectivity problems noted in other reviews:Pros:* Fit is excellent - the takes a little getting used to the thing being jammed in your ear and the sensing mechanism up against your inner ear bone (?) but if you can get by that, it's quite an excellent fit* Size, weight, and look are also quite nice* Retail packaging - got the full retail packaging, with all loops, buds, etc.Cons:* Super static-y* Don't get this if you have an iPhoneAddressing the iPhone connectivity issue specifically, which seems to be covered quite a bit in the other reviews. I've done some research and used the device, and here's what I've found:> If you power down the device with the iPhone in PHONE mode (i.e., as long as the phone 'app' is up on your screen), you will hear a descending tone, and everything will be fine for next time.> If you power down the device WITHOUT the iPhone in phone mode, it 'dies' - you can't get it to turn on again, you can't pair it, you can't do anything.> If the device 'dies', all you have to do is (with the device off)plug it into your charger for 2 seconds - just enough for the charging light to come on, then unplug it, and turn it on, and it will automatically pair and you're good to go.That's it.Is that incredibly annoying and a reason not to buy the device? Absolutely. I'm incredibly anal about my devices, and I still have run into issues with this on/off thing - you just don't think about it. You park your car, you get out, you just turn your device off and put it in your pocket... you don't think to go to the phone, click to the phone function and THEN turn the device off.Note - I think all of the issues with battery life indicators, bluetooth indicators, caller ID, etc., are all linked to this quirk between this device and the iPhone...and candidly, why it's now selling for $40 instead of its list price of 3X that amount.

I have purchased several different bluetooths in the past 6 weeks or so. Plantronics m50, plantronics marque, blueant rugged t1, motorola hx550, jabra extreme 2. This one is the best as far as noise cancellation by far. The m50 and the finiti are by far the most comfortable and easy to wear for long periods of time. The jabra extreme 2 just seemed poorly built and the on/off button broke within a day of owning it. The hx550 motorola had outstanding sound but was not comfortable or secure on my ear at all. After demoing them all i chose the finiti but it was also $75 bucks. If you want a great unit but dont need extreme noise cancellation i would go with the Plantronics M50 for $30. It is a great unit and super comfy with excellent sound... I drive truck so i need something that can kill the engine noise of a freightliner. Finiti is it
